O.k. I have a questions, just indulge me for a minute.  Why do bloggers think that they have the opinion that matters the most?  Why do they think that they are real journalist?  I can understand if you have a staff with others working with you and have notable sources and credits and awards to your name.  But just because I have this blog doesn’t make me a journalist or does it.  Me personally it is an account of what I think is the best or my favorite or my idea that makes things better.  What happens to the other side of things.  Who takes that side?  Because I know that one person who controls that blog isn’t so why does that make it real journalism???  So my question is when does a blogger become a real journalist???  Let me know what you think.

summer movies

I love this time of the year.  Mostly because a lot of good movies are coming out around this time.  Star trek, Tranformers 2, Harry Potter, G.I. Joe.  I can’t wait.  Now all I have to do it just convince my wife to go out with me to go and see all theses movies.  When she hasn’t even seen half of theses titles or even knows what they are about.  We went and watched Transformers this weekend and she was like I’m lost.  So we had to go and watch the first one after we went to the movies.  Whats killing me now is the fact that I am wanting to go and watch Harry Potter on Tuesday night for the midnight showing and she’s like ummm I really don’t like Harry Potter and I really haven’t watched any of the movies.  WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  I was like your in luck cause I own them all.  So know I have get her caught up with all of those.    But she should be happy we went and finally watched obsessed this weekend at the dollar theater.  The movie was what i expected it was going to be and I’m kinda glad that I waited to go and see it.  But it was a good movie just not my type.

What did you do for the 4th???

There is no other holiday like the 4th in my opinion.  You have family together, you have good food, and you have everyone outdoors enjoying the day.  In my opinion there is no other holiday like the 4th, and to top it off you even get fireworks.  I love it.  Well the plans that Monika and I had where to go down to Pensacola and to spend time with my step dad and that side of the family.  To give you a little background on this side of the family I would have to write a book, but I’ll give you the quick and dirty.  My step dad moved down about two years ago on the same piece of land that his brother was living on and built a house down there.  The land is right next to the river that goes through Milton Fl and part of it is swamp land.  David’s house was just built about 6 months ago and this is the first time that I get to see it. 

So we drive down once I get off of work and Mokica was finished with her appointment and went down to meet up with the rest of the family that went down earlier that week.  On the way down everything went well, traffic wasn’t to bad, the ride was pretty smooth.  Until we where about 30 minutes away from the house and all of a sudden it seemed like we where in a monsoon.  Monika was like were in a tornado, don’t get me wrong it was raining pretty bad but anyone who has lived in Florida well that is normal.  You get a hard rain for about a hour and then it stops and gets hot as all get out after that.  So we make it there and the house is packed with all the family.  Skip to the fourth and we all are going out to the river to watch the fireworks and spend time out at the park.  Both my brother and my uncle have there boats out at the house.  So we make our way down the trail to the river from the house and take a boat ride down the river to the park where david went out earlier to get a spot. 

From there it was a blast.  The family out playing botche ball, volleyball, and out on the water.  What else could you as for.  But that’s what we did for the holidays.  Hope that you all had a great one as well.

Sears towers new addtion

O.k.  This is like the coolest thing.  I love being in the sky over looking the city and this new addition on the Sears tower is like the greatest.  Here is the link if you haven’t had a chance to see what everyone is talking about. 

But here in Atlanta the closest thing that you can get the best view of the city is at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.  If you get a chance to go to the Sundial restaurant and the bar there.  By far the best views of the whole city of Atlanta.  The restaurant is a great place for a romantic date and go at night.   The light of the city are an awsome site.  When your up on the 72 floor its great.  This is the view that you get when your up at the restaurant. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I will tell you this though.  The short ribs are to die for.  The chef is a great guy and the staff is very accommodating.  Just be prepared to pay for the dinner that you get.  Its not the cheapest place in town, but for the time you spend and the views that you get.  Well to me its well worth it.

Down for the next four weeks

Well as all you know, I am a photojournalist and I love being out in the field and behind the camera.  Well I am now in a cast for the next four weeks with an injury to the back of my ankle for a torn tendon.  I know I know and what you will all quick realize that I am very accident prone.  So for the next four weeks I will be bring you all the interesting stories that I can find for you and keeping you up to date on the latest of whats going on in Atlanta. 

 

Space Camp

As a kid I have always wanted to go to Space Camp.  Well a little older and still just a big kid I got to opportunity to go out to Huntsville, AL to go out to Space Camp and get a first hand look into a world that a majority of the public doesn’t get a chance to see. 

Not only that but we had a chance to play on a few of the anti-gravity devices and the multi axis devices as well.  You think you have an ideal of how dizzy you get but once you get going and going and going on top of flipping in all different directions.  You do your best of  just trying to walk straight afterwards. 

Afterwards we got the chance to take part in doing a simulated mission.  This whole operation was a blast.  The mission itself takes a little longer then what we had to do it in.  So it was a blast to watch the people out on the space walk and listen to the people back out on mission control and the shuttle to hear them leave them out there is space.  We had a great laugh about that once they rejoined the group. 

          I will say that Huntsville did a great job in welcoming us all out to the city and giving us an opportunity to see what all the city has to offer.

Snow Mountian

All right I know that we live in the south and the thought of snow in the south closes everything down. Well Stone Mountian has found a way to introduce snow to many people that never get a chance to see it. I had a chance to go and check out the slops a Snow mountian below is the story check it out.

This is what I looked like.  I had so much fun out there and would tell anyone who wanted to go and have fun with the family. To go out and enjoy the white object that is called snow.

Just one warning, wear warm clothes because it does get cold.

Destiny Praise

Inauguration

I don’t know about you but when history is made its always good to be there to say that I was there.  Well I can tell my kids in the future that I was there when the first African American President was sworn in.  I can tell you that this is an experience that was well worth the trip and even thought it was a headache just trying to get everything down.  The energy at the National Mall was just electric.  Just to bad there was no electricity to power a heater; cause it was cold as all get out.  I think that the high for that day was 32 degrees and standing in one place for hours your muscles get so stiff and the you move, you really ain’t going anywhere.  But that didn’t hinder the fact that there where so many people out there.  It was an experience that I would say for people to experience at least one, cause I think if you get out there and say that you where there and you have done it; but after the first one and you walking all over the place trying to figure out where you are going and trying to figure out that most the people there don’t know whats going on.  People trying to leave and road closed and metro stations closed and on top of that local PD are allowing only a few people into the stations at a few time.  People started to get a little testy, but I will say that most people kept there cool and rolled with the punch and everything worked out just fine and eventually people made it home without to much drama.  Well except for the only lady who got injured in the metro station early in the day causing a few delays and causing the delays later on in the day. 

I will say this thought it was good to see so many people from Atlanta area.  I meet so many people from Smyrna, laweranceville, Atlanta, Cherokee county just to name a few and they where all saying the same thing.  I want to go back to Atlanta “Its a lot warmer.”  Well I could doubt them on that one cause it was cold.

Love Working out

I don’t know about you but getting back into shape sucks.  Well let me rephrase this “it hurts.”  I don’ t know if my legs can take another squat.  I was out last week at Body Sculpt Inc doing the boot camp class  and we where doing some squats arm presses on one of the inflatable balls.  When I was on my second set and and all of a sudden I noticed that the ball wasn’t as bouncy as it was in the beginning.  Come to find out that I popped the exercise ball.

   I don’t know about you but it was funny as all get out.  Just to bad I had to do like twice as many exercises afterwards.  But you know what it will be well worth it.  I am wanting to loose another 40 pounds to get back down to 200.  Or at least be able to do a 6 minute mile again.  Just one step at a time.  Here we go.
